The beginnings of Northwest Homecrafters, Inc. reach back to 1988. At that time, Wayne Apostolik and another carpenter/friend decided to have a crack at running their own construction services business. They initially provided area realtors with repair services for Seattle homes. This service could range from replacing rotted entry steps, and repairing rotted windows and siding, to jacking up two story homes to replace or repair rotted foundation posting and framing. Excellent service and competence in these areas lead to requests to remodel bathrooms and kitchens, construct decks and second floor dormers, to adding complete second floors, additions, and whole home remodels.
By the spring of 1998, Wayne's partner left the business and the area. There was a brief flirtation with another partnership in an experiment that is now referred to as Design-Build construction. In the fall of 1999, a fellow remodel contractor introduced Wayne to the area Home Builders Association. That introduction began the journey to becoming a great remodeling company.
Putting the emphases on education Wayne began traveling the country to attend trade shows, 'boot camp's', software training and other educational opportunities. He has since earned the Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR), Graduate Master Builder (GMB) and Certified Aging-In-Place (CAPS) certifications, awarded through the National Association of Homebuilders. He is also an active member in one of eight NAHB Remodel 20 Clubs. These are clubs with up to 20 remodelers who are located in various parts of the United States. They meet a minimum of a couple of times each year to discuss business practices, exchange ideas, and assist each other in raising the standards of the remodeling industry.
Wayne also spearheaded the formation of a group of 5 professionals called an Advisory Group, which met once a month to discuss the efficacy of forms, literature, information, and procedures he had developed. The outcome of this alliance formed the foundation of Northwest Homecrafters, Inc. PAMS system, or Project Accountability and Management System. With PAMS, we provide an organized, clearly understood path through the seemingly chaotic process of home remodeling. Another product was informational brochures. These brochures cover various topics about remodeling and construction, and are now available free through this website. This is part of Northwest Homecrafters, Inc., mission to learn how best it can serve its clients-past, present, and future.
Another part of that mission has been to transform Northwest Homecrafters, Inc. into a Design-Build remodel company. This has come about from witnessing the continually recurring disconnect between remodel design and the cost of construction.
In terms of responsibility and reliability, we're second to none. Being a part of the larger community of remodel contractors is an aspect of professionalism we take seriously. Wayne is an active member of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties, sitting on the Remodelors Council Executive Committee as well as a couple of subcommittees. He also teaches a class each year at a neighborhood center in Seattle on how to hire and work with contractors.
The result is that Northwest Homecrafters, Inc. is always striving to improve and grow. This shows to our customers in our service. With Northwest Homecrafters, Inc. you always know where you are, where you are going, and how long it should take to get there. In the final analyses, we believe that trustworthiness, reliability, and a stress-free and enjoyable construction process, lead to the highly desirable goal of complete client satisfaction.
